The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1021, will be holding a poker run Saturday, beginning at the corner of Willow Street and Independence Boulevard.
Organizers say that proceeds from the event will go toward the cost of bringing the traveling Vietnam Veterans Wall to Mount Airy this autumn.
The ride, expected to cover about 100 miles, will include stops at Cooper’s in Pilot Mountain, Scotty B’s in Rural Hall, and Smurff’s Tavern for hot dogs and hamburgers, before finishing at Vanishing Point in Mount Airy.
Registration for the event begins at 9 a.m., with the ride set to start at 10 a.m. Advance registration is $15 for bikes and $20 for other vehicles. Same-day registration is $20 for bikes and $25 for other vehicles. Extra hands for the poker run are $5 each, with the best hand $150 and the worst hand $25. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $1 each, or six for $5.
