• Money and property were stolen from a vehicle in Mount Airy this week, according to city police department reports. The crime was discovered Monday on North Street, which involved entry to an unsecured 1999 Jeep Wrangler parked in a driveway. In addition to an undisclosed sum of cash, a tool kit, headphones and telephone cables — collectively valued at $50 — were taken. The victims are listed as John William Cox and Jake Pendleton, both of the North Street address where the larceny occurred.

• Also Monday, police were told that another unsecured vehicle had been entered at a different location on North Street, a 2004 Nissan Maxima owned by Dennis Gray Bruner of Ellis Acres Lane. No property was listed as missing.

• In connection with another incident reported Monday, a 2013 Nissan Maxima, also unsecured, was entered at the East Poplar Street residence of vehicle owner Jesus Lopez Ledezma, with nothing listed as stolen.

• A coin-operated vending machine was discovered to have been broken into Saturday at the D&J Galaxy grocery store on Westfield Road. The door of the Pepsi dispenser was pried open, causing $50 in damage, with an undisclosed sum of money removed.

• Myra McCann Tate, 53, of 113 Dutch Lane, was cited for larceny last Friday at Walmart after allegedly concealing several items of unspecified merchandise and leaving the store. Tate is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on July 6.

• Nathan Alexander Mills, 18, of 113 Taylor Road, Pilot Mountain, was arrested on May 25 on outstanding warrants for felony charges including forgery of an endorsement, uttering a forged instrument and breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, along with misdemeanor violations of larceny and possession of stolen property. The charges had been issued on May 24 and 25. Mills was jailed under a $40,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on July 13.

• Sonya Kaye Chappell, 41, of 81 Orchard Ridge Road, Cana, Virginia, was arrested on charges of larceny, possession of stolen property (for which no details were listed), possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, after a May 20 traffic stop on Granite Road. Chappell was held in the Surry County Jail under a $500 secured bond and slated for a July 12 court appearance.

• Robin Elaine Jessup, 51, of 104 Sunny Brook Lane, was cited for concealment of merchandise and possession of drug paraphernalia on May 19 after an incident at Walmart involving unspecified property valued at $153. Jessup’s court date is July 6.
