• A Mount Airy man was arrested Thursday night after an incident at Walmart, according to city police department reports. Jack Edward Jackson Jr., 37, of 123 American Lane, was cited for larceny and second-degree trespassing after it was determined that he allegedly had stolen $43 worth of groceries and previously was banned from Walmart. Police also discovered an outstanding warrant for arrest for Jackson, filed on April 20 after he failed to pay child support. He was confined in the Surry County Jail with no bond figure listed and is scheduled to be in District Court on July 6.
• Stephanie Dawn Villafana, 33, of 1354 Ararat Highway, Ararat, Virginia, is facing a larceny offense stemming from an incident Tuesday at Walmart, involving items valued at $49 including pizza, meat, Dr. Pepper and cob corn. Villafana is to be in Surry District Court on July 20.
• A Bolens push mower valued at $50 was discovered missing Sunday from the yard of the Ricky Joseph Gwyn residence on Willow Street.
• Tavarria Avarees Bell, 23, of 112 Ezra Trail, was cited for concealment of merchandise Sunday at Walmart, involving a lighter, stickers and colored pencils valued altogether at $20. Bell’s court date is Aug. 10.
• Police were told last Saturday that clothing had been stolen from a line in the back yard of victim Bibiana Cabrera of West Poplar Street. Included were women’s blue jeans, a blouse and two pairs of shorts, along with a box of laundry detergent. The loss totaled $110.
• Thomas Harvey Snow, 66, of 121 Hamburg St., was charged with second-degree trespassing last Saturday after being encountered at a Hamburg Street location from which he had been banned. This was the fourth such violation filed against Snow since late April. A $500 unsecured bond was set for the latest case, but Snow was ordered to be held in the Surry County Jail until sober. He is scheduled to be in District Court on July 13.
• A second-degree trespassing violation was issued on June 3 against Daniel Aaron Beck, 45, of 147 W. Poplar St., after he was encountered as a suspicious person at Food Lion on West Lebanon Street, from which he had been banned last September. Beck’s District Court date is July 18.
• A Ruger Bearcat .22-caliber revolver and black-leather holster, valued altogether at $200 and owned by Joseph Marion Hall of Lawsonville, were discovered missing on May 31 from an unsecured 2002 GMC pickup parked at McDonald’s on Rockford Street.
• Donna Robertson Harris, 49, of 611 E. Haymore St., No. 8, was arrested as a fugitive from justice on May 31, with no details given. Harris was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond pending a court appearance.
• Kristie Michelle Krantz, 40, of 211 N. Academy St., Pilot Mountain, was cited for larceny on May 31 at Circle K on Rockford Street, where she allegedly took gum. Timothy Dwayne Wall, 36, of 1357 E. Linville Road, is accused of larceny from the same incident, along with possession of drug paraphernalia. Wall also was found to be wanted for failure to appear in court, for which an order for arrest was issued on May 20, and was confined in the Surry County Jail under an $800 secured bond. Krantz is scheduled to appear in District Court on June 27 and Wall on July 12.
• Property valued at around $3,000, plus an undisclosed sum of money, was discovered missing on May 30 from the unsecured 1994 Toyota Camry of Santana Courtney Paige Brown of East Poplar Street while it was at her home. Stolen in addition to the money were a Sony camera and lens, two wedding bands, a laptop computer, a Phillips portable DVD player and keys.
