• A Dobson woman turned herself in at the Mount Airy magistrate’s office Monday on outstanding warrants for charges of larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny, according to city police department reports. The alleged violations involving Kimberly Felts Oneal, 49, of 317 Fisher Valley Road, had been filed by a detective with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office on July 14, with no other details listed in police records. The Dobson resident, who was taken to the police station for processing, was released on a written promise to appear in Yadkin District Court on Sept. 20.
• James Brandon Odum, 34, of 473 Slate Road, was cited on a larceny charge Tuesday, with details of the alleged crime not listed. Odum is scheduled to be in Surry District Court on Sept. 1.
• Also Tuesday, Nicole Oliver Lugo, 20, of 308 Spring St., No. 2, was cited for a city noise ordinance violation stemming from loud music at her residence. Lugo had been warned by police about the problem before the violation was issued. Her court date is Sept. 19.
• Christina Dawn Steele, 43, of 135 Louise Ave., was arrested last Thursday on felony charges of trafficking in opiates, possession of cocaine and maintaining a drug vehicle, along with four misdemeanors: possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession of non-marijuana paraphernalia.
The charges were filed after a 2010 Nissan Maxima being operated by Steele was pulled over in the Golden Corral parking lot after she allegeldy failed to maintain a proper lane of travel and for driving after revocation of license. She was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond. A passenger in the car, Charles A. McDonald, 49, of 135 Louise Ave., was cited for possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of Schedule IV paraphernalia after a marijuana joint allegedly was found in his pants pocket during a probable-cause search. Both Steele and McDonald are scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Aug. 24.
• Jamie Keith Barr, 25, of 436 S. Main St., Dobson, was found to be the subject of outstanding warrants for larceny and possession of stolen goods after a suspicious-person investigation on July 17 at Forrest Oaks Shopping Center. The charges had been issued on July 15, with other details not given. Barr was released on a written promise to be in court on Sept. 19.
• Amber Betsy Corns, 31, of the Shepherd’s House homeless shelter on Rockford Street, was served with a criminal summons on a school attendance law violation on July 17 after she was encountered by police during a domestic call at the shelter. A warrant for that offense, which had been filed by Surry County school personnel on June 2, was discovered after further investigation. Corns’ court date is Aug. 26.
• Jay Steven Harris, 46, of 1742 Fancy Gap Road, was arrested on charges of larceny, possession of stolen property and first-degree trespassing on July 16 after allegedly stealing undisclosed items from Cana/Mount Airy Florist on North Andy Griffith Parkway which were found on his property. Harris was held in the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond and slated for a Sept. 19 court appearance.
• Benjamin Jason Gates, 42, of 125 Hall St., was charged with interfering with an electric monitor of the state community corrections division on July 14. Gates was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond to appear in District Court next Tuesday.
