• A BB gun was used to cause estimated damage of $600 to a Freightliner truck in Mount Airy, according to city police department reports. The crime, discovered Monday, occurred in a parking area at 801 W. Lebanon St., where the 2014 Freightliner Cascadia owned by Ryder Integrated Logistics on Boggs Drive received damage to the driver’s-side window and windshield glass on both the left and right sides.
• Debit cards and other items were discovered missing Wednesday from an unsecured 2014 Dodge Caravan at the Mitchell Street home of victim Heather O’Neal Hunter. A women’s purse and wallet were taken and in addition to State Employees Credit Union and First Community Bank debit cards, the loss included a credit union checkbook, three Social Security cards and miscellaneous makeup items valued at $200.
• Shane Everett McMillian, 24, of 154 Chestnut Ridge Road, was charged with breaking and entering Wednesday, stemming from a domestic dispute that morning in which the back door of Angel Paredes’ city housing authority apartment on Jeffries Street was kicked in to gain entry. Damage of $300 resulted to the door casing. McMillian was held in the Surry County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond is scheduled to appear in District Court on Oct. 19.
• Michelle Dawn Smith, 36 of Hudson, a town in Caldwell County, was cited for larceny Wednesday at Walmart, where she allegedly took unspecified property that was recovered after store loss-prevention personnel detained Smith. She is to be in Surry District Court on Oct. 19.
• Property damage put at $500 was discovered Tuesday at the Lowe and Williams attorney offices in the 700 block of South Main Street, where graffiti was painted on the outside of the building.
• Police also learned Tuesday of a similar incident in the 100 block of South South Street, where the door of a garage was spray-painted. The damage was estimated at $100, with Amy Mittman White of Nelson Hill Road listed as the victim of the crime.
• A case involving lost property was reported Tuesday, when Marion Cooke Hicks of Mooresville advised that a set of diamond earrings of undisclosed value which she owned were left in a room she checked out of at Hampton Inn on Rockford Street in July and not turned in as lost/found property.
