Dr. Ski Chilton, a professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Wake Forest School of Medicine and author or coauthor of more than 130 scientific publications, will present a lecture, followed by a book signing, on the topic of his newly released book “The Rewired Brain,” at Surry Community College.

Chilton’s book, “The Rewired Brain: Free Yourself of Negative Behaviors and Release Your Best Self,” combines the scientific rationale behind conscious and unconscious thinking with allusions and analogies from contemporary literature, film, and current events to equip readers with a framework for trading negative thinking “…for confident, fearless living all with the purpose of cultivating Christ-like character in mind,” the college said in a statement.

Chilton’s insight comes from three decades of studies in biology, biochemistry, genetics, neuroscience, philosophy and theology at institutions including Johns Hopkins and Wake Forest. He coauthored “The Rewired Brain” with Dr. Margaret Rukstalis and A.J. Gregory.

The lecture and book signing will be held on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Shelton-Badgett North Carolina Center for Viticulture & Enology, Surry Community College, 630 S. Main St., Dobson. Books will be available for purchase during the event.

For questions and more information, contact Sebrina Mabe at (336) 386-3459 or mabesc@surry.edu.
