• Property valued at $520 was stolen Sunday from an unsecured vehicle at Walmart, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. An iPhone touch-screen was taken from the 1987 Ford Ranger pickup along with a North Carolina identification card, with Christy Lynn Bates of Westfield and Kelly Love Goad of Syracuse Lane, Mount Airy, listed as the victims.

• A similar incident occurred Saturday at McDonald’s on U.S. 52, where an undisclosed sum of money was stolen from the 1994 Nissan Sentra of Mary Webb Summers, a Lynda Street resident.

• Merchandise valued at $138, including a silver chain necklace and glass chicken, were discovered missing Monday from Mayberry Antique Mall on North Main Street, where the property was stolen by an unknown suspect.

• A coin-operated Mountain Dew machine was discovered on Jan. 17 to have been broken into at LSL Auto Sales on West Pine Street. An undisclosed sum of money was removed during the incident that caused damage to the machine put at $200.

• A break-in occurred on Jan. 16 at Family Dollar on Carter Street, where a glass door was shattered with a rock to gain entry and enable the theft of a register drawer valued at $100. The damage to the door was listed as $400.

• A larceny was discovered on Jan. 16 at Mount Airy Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram on North Andy Griffith Parkway, involving a hubcap theft valued at $217 which targeted a 2014 Dodge 3500 pickup owned by Marvin Austin Welch Jr., a resident of Hidden Acres Lane in Ararat.

• Also on Jan. 16, police were told that Dollar General on South Main Street was the scene of two separate thefts by unknown suspects, including one that day in which quantities of Scott and Charmin bathroom tissue and Dawn dish soap were taken — a loss totaling $56. The day before, a 12-pack of Goody’s pain medication valued at $22 was stolen.
