PILOT MOUNTAIN — Police have identified five individuals they suspect in the March armed robbery of a Circle K store. While one is in custody, the other four are still at large and are being sought by authorities
On March 28, a black male with a pump shotgun entered the Circle K convenience store located at 805 South Key St. at 12:50 a.m., according to a request for information placed with the North Carolina’s Information Sharing and Analysis Center by the Pilot Mountain Police Department.
The suspect proceeded to rob the convenience store as well as the clerk of personal belongings.
According to Police Chief Darryl Bottoms, the armed suspect demanded the clerk open the safe. The clerk however did not have access to the safe, stated Bottoms. The suspect then proceeded to take the money from the cash register drawer.
The suspect stole $179.01 in cash from the store, according to the police report.
Upon seeing the clerk’s purse on the counter, the perpetrator demanded the clerk give it to him as well, according to Bottoms.
No other persons were in the store at the time of the robbery and the clerk was not injured.
The clerk described the suspect as a black male, approximately 6-foot-3, dressed in all black, wearing a black hoodie and black pants. The suspect also had a red bandana covering his face, according to a press release published by the Pilot Mountain Police Department.
After investigation, the Pilot Mountain Police Department teamed with the NC Alcohol Law Enforcement Agency, it was discovered there were several other individuals in the store prior to the black male suspect with the weapon entering the store, according to Bottoms.
One of the suspects, Willie Brian Rabon Jr., was identified through the video footage, according to Bottoms.
After a search Rabon’s residence, the weapon allegedly used in the robbery was found.
“At this point we could identify every one of the subjects involved,” stated Bottoms. “After several interviews with Mr. Rabon, the subject admitted being at the store. Also with other information we could identify the subjects that were on the store video,” stated Bottoms.
Warrants have been issued for the arrest of five suspects.
• Willie Brian Rabon Jr., a white male about 18 years old, of 206 Mookees Lane, South Carolina, is being held at Forsyth County Detention Center. Rabon was charged with two felonies, conspiracy robbery with dangerous weapon and possession of stolen goods.
• Demon Lesahun Smith, about 17, a black male, of Winston-Salem, is charged with four felonies, robbery with dangerous weapon, conspiracy roberry with dangerous weapon and second degree kidnapping. Smith’s location is currently unknown, according to Pilot Mountain Police Department.
• Donaven Jackles Edwards, 21, a black male, of North Charleston, South Carolina, is charged with two felonies, conspiracy robbery with dangerous weapon and possession of stolen goods. Edwards is currently being held at South Carolina Jail.
• Vernon Edwards, about 20, a black male, of North Charleston, South Carolina, is charged with two felonies, conspiracy robbery with dangerous weapon and possession of stolen goods. Edwards is currently being held at South Carolina Jail.
• Randy Marcellus Jenkinson, about 26, a black male, of Winston-Salem, is charged with one felony, conspiracy robbery with dangerous weapon. Jenkinson is currently being at South Carolina Jail.
