• A vehicle has been stolen from a Mount Airy residence where a break-in also was attempted, according to city police department reports.
The incident occurred Thursday at the home of Eldon Leroy King on Meadowlark Lane, from which his white 1996 Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup, bearing license tag number ELV3984, was taken. The truck is valued at $10,000. The glass also was broken out of a door of the residence in the attempt to gain entry, with the damage put at $100.
• A break-in of a vehicle occurred Friday at Food Lion on South Andy Griffith Parkway, where an unlocked Jeep Cherokee owned by store employee Charles William Goad of Homeplace Lane in Cana, Virginia, was entered, leading to $300 in damage to its ignition switch and the larceny of assorted tools and a tool box valued at $40.
• Kimberly Renee Snow, 28, of 122 East End Drive, was jailed under a $16,500 secured bond on July 9 after police served her with a warrant that had been issued two days earlier for a probation violation. Snow allegedly fled from police on foot after being encountered at a location on East Bluemont Road, leading to a violation of resisting, obstructing or delaying a public officer being issued against the woman, who also was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Snow is to be in Surry District Court on Aug. 17.
• Tina Jennings Ayers, 36, of 3820 Red Brush Road, was arrested on drug charges on July 6 after she was encountered by police during a domestic investigation at Wells Fargo Bank on North Main Street and found to be wanted on violations including possession of methamphetamine, a felony; possession of up to a half-ounce of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia, which had been filed through the Surry County Sheriff’s Office on June 15.
Ayers also is facing a violation of possession of marijuana paraphernalia. She was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $6,500 secured bond and is scheduled to be in District Court on Sept. 6.
• Jason Scott Dupree, 40, of Sylva, a town in Jackson County, was arrested on drug and other charges after a traffic stop on North Renfro Street on July 5. Dupree is accused of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, a felony; possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession of a Schedule III controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; and no operator’s license.
Dupree also was found to be the subject of an order for arrest for failing to appear in court. He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $2,000 secured bond and slated for an Aug. 9 appearance in District Court.
As a result of the same traffic stop, police discovered that Dupree’s son, Daniel James Dupree, 21, of 127 Timmons Lane, Mount Airy, had three outstanding warrants out for him for failing to appear in court in Buncombe County and he also was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. The younger Dupree was jailed under a $30,000 secured bond and also is to be in court on Aug. 9.
