Those looking to avoid the holiday shopping crowds can purchase their gifts in one stop at an event made possible by the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber will hold an annual “Black Friday” event at Cross Creek Country Club on Dec. 4. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will last four hours.

The evening will include dinner, dancing and a silent auction. Admission to the event is free for all chamber members and their employees, and the attendance fee for non-members is $20. Those looking to participate must RSVP by Dec. 1.

The silent auction will feature items ranging from a Christmas tree to tickets to Wake Forest University basketball games. Emily Jones, who is coordinating the event for the chamber, said many of the items offered in the silent auction will make excellent Christmas gifts.

Jones said the event, which she described as a fundraiser for the chamber and a Christmas party for its members, is in its fifth year.

“We’ve seen the event grow each year,” explained Jones. “Last year we had more than 200 participants, and this year we look to have even more.”

Proceeds from the event support the chamber and small business programs, according to Jones. She said the event is a great way to support local businesses.

According to Jones, dinner at the event will include a pasta bar and a salad. She said there will also be wine, which has been donated by Herrera Vineyards.

Jones said the chamber is committed to helping local businesses thrive through programs such as business academies and networking opportunities.

For more information or to RSVP contact the chamber at (336) 786-6116 or email to chambermembership@mtairyncchamber.org.
