• Stereo equipment valued at $340 was discovered missing Monday as the result of a vehicle break-in, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. The incident occurred at the home of Richard Tobias Revels on Hunter Drive, where his 1994 Ford Mustang was forcibly entered and items removed from the trunk, including a Rockford amplifier and a Kicker 10-inch box speaker.

• Her alleged theft of a cordless drill from Walmart led to a larceny violation being filed Saturday against Victoria Renea Dalton, 32, of 139 Cedar Ridge Court. Dalton was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on nearby Edgewood Drive after the theft and is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on July 6. The merchandise was recovered and returned to the store.

• Mitchell Dain Reynolds, 60, of 215 Crestview Drive, was arrested on charges of larceny and possession of stolen property on May 19. Reynolds allegedly was caught trying to steal a piece of metal tubing at the residence of Eric Brannock in the 600 block of West Pine Street, with a subsequent investigation revealing that Reynolds allegedly also was in possession of $1,085 worth of stolen plumbing supplies belonging to Steve Tate Plumbing. He was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond and slated for a June 15 District Court appearance. All the items taken were returned.

• Six sections of copper ground wires, valued altogether at $600, were discovered missing from the Garden Terrace apartments on May 19, where tools were used to remove the wiring from multiple meter boxes located on the sides of apartments. Garden Terrace Limited Partnership is listed as the victim of the crime, which was similar to another occurring around the same time at an apartment complex on Newsome Street.

• Anthony Paul Wrede, 26, of 641 Maple St., was arrested on May 18 on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle which had been filed on April 14. Wrede was encountered by police at 449 N. Andy Griffith Parkway after a drug-activity call and taken into custody on the vehicle-related offense. He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond.
